Meydenbauer Bay: A Warm, Refined Bellevue Home Remodel

Set along Meydenbauer Bay in Bellevue, Washington, this whole home remodel is surrounded by the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest with views of the Bellevue city skyline. That unique balance between nature and city living became part of the inspiration for the home, creating interiors that feel warm, refined, and connected to their surroundings.

Throughout the home, we layered natural stone, warm white oak, soft neutrals, custom millwork, and organic textures to create a timeless foundation. The result is a home that feels elevated without being overly polished, modern without feeling stark, and thoughtfully designed for everyday life.

A Thoughtful Whole Home Transformation

From the beginning, we approached the Meydenbauer Bay project as one cohesive home rather than a collection of individual rooms.

The existing residence had an incredible setting and plenty of potential, but the interiors needed a more intentional sense of connection. Our goal was to create better flow throughout the home while developing a material palette that felt warm, natural, and appropriate for its Bellevue waterfront location.

White oak, soft neutral tones, and subtle texture became recurring elements throughout the design.Carrying these materials throughout the home allowed each space to have its own character while still feeling connected and cohesive.

The design feels refined and intentional while still maintaining a sense of warmth and ease. Every space was meant to feel inviting and designed for the way the home is actually lived in.

Rethinking the Kitchen

The kitchen was one of the most transformative spaces within this Bellevue home remodel.

The original layout included a structural post that interrupted the island and visually divided the room. Removing it gave us the opportunity to rethink the kitchen layout and create a much more open connection between the kitchen and surrounding living spaces.

High gloss white cabinetry reflects the natural light and views of the lake, keeping the kitchen feeling light, bright, and open. In contrast, the tongue and groove ceiling brings warmth overhead, while the hidden pantry is seamlessly integrated into Shou Sugi Ban wood paneling, adding depth and a distinctly modern warmth to the space.

Together, these elements create a balance between clean, contemporary lines and the natural textures that connect the home back to its Pacific Northwest setting.

Inspired by Meydenbauer Bay and the Pacific Northwest

One of the most special parts of this home is its setting.

Views of Meydenbauer Bay, the surrounding Pacific Northwest landscape, and the Bellevue skyline create a rare combination of waterfront living and city life.

We wanted the interiors to complement that experience rather than compete with it.

Natural wood tones, stone, organic textures, and a soft neutral palette create a quiet backdrop for the views outside. Expansive windows bring natural light throughout the home and allow the changing landscape to become part of the interiors.

That relationship between a home and its surroundings is something we consider throughout our Bellevue and Seattle interior design projects. The most successful spaces feel like they belong where they are.

For Meydenbauer Bay, that meant embracing the warmth and natural beauty associated with Pacific Northwest interior design while introducing cleaner architectural elements that reflect the home’s proximity to the city.

A Calm and Collected Primary Suite

The primary suite was designed as a quieter retreat within the home.

Soft neutrals, organic textures, warm wood tones, and natural light create a bedroom that feels calm and inviting. Rather than introducing unnecessary layers, we focused on proportion, texture, and thoughtful furnishings to give the room depth.

The adjoining primary bathroom continues that same sense of simplicity and warmth.

Custom cabinetry, timeless materials, streamlined plumbing fixtures, and subtle details create a bathroom that feels refined and serene while remaining connected to the rest of the home.

As with every room, functionality played an equally important role in the design. Storage, lighting, cabinetry, material transitions, and everyday routines were considered alongside the overall aesthetic.

Beautiful spaces should work beautifully too.
